One Crew. One Visit. Stump Gone, Lawn Restored.

The complete stump-to-sod bundle — grind, debris haul, soil prep, fresh sod — all in a single visit, with one quote and one crew.

Most stump jobs in Florida leave you with a hole, a pile of chips, and three more contractors to call. Florida’s Stump Masters finishes the job. We grind the stump below grade, haul every chip off-site, prep and grade the soil, and lay fresh St. Augustine sod — all in the same visit. No coordinating a grinder, then a debris crew, then a sod installer. One crew, one price, one visit, lawn restored.

Why a Stump-to-Sod Bundle Beats Hiring Three Crews

Almost every stump-removal job in Florida ends the same way: the grinder leaves, you’re staring at a 6-inch deep crater full of damp wood chips, and your lawn looks worse than before they showed up. The standard “fix” is to call a debris removal company to haul the chips, then a landscaper to bring topsoil and grade, then a sod company to lay grass. Three contractors, three quotes, three scheduling windows, and your yard sits torn up for weeks while each one fits you in.

The stump-to-sod bundle collapses all of that into one visit. Here’s what you actually save:

  • No 3-contractor scheduling. One phone call, one date on the calendar, one crew on-site. You’re not waiting two weeks for the chip-removal guy to call back.
  • No bare yard for weeks. The hole gets filled, graded, and sodded the same day the stump comes out. Your lawn is whole again before the crew leaves.
  • One single price quote. You see the all-in number before we start — not a grind quote that surprises you with $400 in chip removal and another $700 for sod three weeks later.
  • No finger-pointing. If the sod fails because the chips weren’t fully removed, that’s on us, not on three contractors blaming each other.
  • Lower total cost. One mobilization, one crew day, one truck. We don’t double-charge for trip fees, dump fees, or minimums.

The 4-Step Stump-to-Sod Process

Every bundle follows the same battle-tested sequence. We don’t skip steps to save time — skipping prep is the #1 reason new sod fails over an old stump scar.

1

Grind Below Grade

We grind the stump 4–6 inches below ground using a track-mounted grinder. Below-grade depth is critical — surface grinds leave roots that re-sprout and prevent proper sod rooting.

2

Remove All Debris

Every wood chip, root chunk, and bark fragment gets hauled off-site. Chips left in the ground rob nitrogen from new sod and cause yellow rings. Nothing stays behind.

3

Prep & Level Soil

We pull remaining root remnants, backfill with clean topsoil, tamp it down, and level flush with the surrounding lawn. This is the layer that makes or breaks the sod.

4

Lay Fresh Sod

St. Augustine by default for FL yards (or any grass you specify). Pieces are cut tight, rolled flush, and watered in. You water for 14 days — we handle the rest.

What the Bundle Actually Costs

Most stump-to-sod jobs in Central and Northeast Florida land in the $450–$1,200 range for the full sequence on a typical residential stump (12–24 inch diameter, ~25–100 sq ft of sod). Bigger stumps and larger sod patches scale from there. The bundle saves money over hiring separately because you avoid three trip fees, three minimums, and three dump fees.

Bundle Size Typical Bundle Total What’s Included
Single stump, small patch (12–18″ stump, ~25 sq ft sod) $450–$700 Grind, chip haul, fill, St. Augustine sod, water-in
Single stump, medium patch (18–24″ stump, ~50–100 sq ft sod) $650–$1,200 Grind, chip haul, fill, grade, sod, water-in
Multi-stump or large area (2–4 stumps, 200–500 sq ft sod) $1,200–$3,000 Multiple grinds, full debris haul, grade, sod block, water-in

Need Just One Piece of the Bundle?

The bundle is the most efficient option when you have a fresh stump and want a finished lawn. But we also sell each step on its own — useful if you’ve already had a stump ground and just need cleanup and sod, or if you’re prepping a yard from scratch.

Common Questions About the Stump-to-Sod Bundle

How long does the whole bundle take on a typical residential job?

For a single stump (12–24″ diameter) with a 25–100 sq ft sod patch, the entire grind–haul–prep–sod sequence runs 2–4 hours on-site. We arrive with the grinder, the chip-haul trailer, the topsoil, and the sod pallet on the same truck — nothing is staged across multiple visits. By the time we leave, the lawn is whole.

Can you do the bundle on multiple stumps at once?

Yes — multi-stump bundles are actually our most common job. Discount applies the more stumps you have, since the crew, equipment, and sod-pallet delivery are already on-site. A 3–4 stump job with a few hundred square feet of sod usually finishes in a single day and runs $1,200–$3,000 all-in.

What grass do you install by default?

St. Augustine Floratam is the Florida default and what we install unless you ask for something else. It’s the most common Florida lawn grass — salt-tolerant, full-sun friendly, matches what’s already in 80%+ of Central and NE Florida yards. We also stock Bahia, Palmetto St. Augustine, Bermuda, and Empire Zoysia on request.

What about my sprinkler system?

We work around existing sprinkler heads — sod gets cut neatly around each pop-up. If a head is in the wrong spot for the new lawn or got damaged by previous root growth, we’ll flag it and either reset or cap it as a separate line item.

Why not just leave the chips and seed over them?

Two reasons. First, St. Augustine doesn’t grow from seed at all — it spreads only by stolons, so any St. Augustine repair must be sod or plugs. Second, leaving wood chips in the hole guarantees a yellow donut around the old stump as the chips decompose and rob nitrogen from new grass. The chips have to leave the site for the sod to root cleanly.

Do you offer a warranty on the sod?

Yes — we provide a 14-day install warranty. If sod fails to root in the first two weeks because of an install defect (bad prep, poor seam contact, etc.), we replace it at no charge. The warranty doesn’t cover failure to follow the watering schedule, irrigation issues, pet damage, or storm damage. The 14-day window matches the critical rooting period for Florida sod.
