About Florida’s Stump Masters | Local Stump-Only Specialists in 7 FL Counties
A dedicated stump-grinding crew — not a tree company that grinds stumps on the side.
Why a Stump-Only Specialist Exists
Most “stump grinding” in Florida is sold as an add-on by full-service tree companies. The crew shows up to drop a tree, and the stump becomes a $400 line item the homeowner is pressured to accept on the spot. That model works for the tree company. It rarely works for the homeowner who already has stumps in the yard from a storm two years ago, a previous owner, or a removal another contractor walked away from.
Florida’s Stump Masters is the spin-off built for that homeowner. We are the stump-only sister brand of Florida’s Tree Masters (FTM) — the established multi-county tree service operating across Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns, Seminole, Orange, Duval, and Clay. FTM still handles the full-tree work: removals, trimming, emergency cleanup, crane jobs. Florida’s Stump Masters owns one wedge: stump-only and post-tree restoration. Grind it, haul it, grade it, sod it — same crew, same visit.
The reason we split the brand is search intent. When a homeowner types “stump grinding near me,” they want a specialist who shows up and grinds stumps. They don’t want a sales pitch for a $4,000 tree removal they didn’t ask for. Splitting the brand lets us answer that intent honestly: stumps are the whole job here, not the upsell.
What That Looks Like in Practice
Stump Grinding
6–12 inches below grade as the standard. Deeper if you’re laying pavers, a pool deck, or a driveway over the spot. Per-stump pricing tied to diameter, with multi-stump discount the moment there’s more than one.
Chip Cleanup
Every grind is finished with cleanup included — chips raked level into the hole, or hauled off completely if you’d rather not deal with them. No half-finished crater left behind.
Grading
The hole filled, the spot leveled to surrounding grade. So the lawn mows flat, water drains the right direction, and the stump’s gone for real — not just out of sight.
Sod Replacement
Optional add-on. We pop in fresh St. Augustine, Bahia, Bermuda, or Zoysia to match the rest of the yard. You walk away with finished lawn the same day — not a brown patch waiting for grass to fill in.
Equipment & Approach
The whole business runs on a dedicated Vermeer stump grinder — commercial-grade, trailer-towed, with carbide cutting teeth that handle Florida’s live oak, sabal palm, and laurel oak without slowing down. The grinder rides on its own equipment trailer and gets walked off onto the work area; the trailer stays on the driveway or street, never on grass.
For tight backyards we run a narrow-frame grinder that fits through a standard 36-inch side gate — same cutting power, smaller footprint. If you can walk to the stump, we can almost certainly grind it.
Every job includes the Sunshine 811 utility locate before grinding starts. Florida’s shallow utility runs and irrigation lines make this non-optional — a grinder turning at 1,000+ RPM is not something you want hitting a gas line. We schedule the locate, confirm clear, then bring the equipment in.
Service Area — 7 Florida Counties
We work the same coverage zone as our parent brand — Central Florida through Northeast Florida. If you’re inside any of these counties, we’ll come quote your job at no cost.
Just outside the line? Call anyway — we sometimes take jobs in neighboring areas if the route makes sense.
